Google Business Profile Sites Alternative

This news of a shutdown may have taken small business owners by surprise, but there are easy solutions in place.

Websites Made with Google Business Profiles Have Been Disabled

"Websites made with Google Business Profiles will be turned off soon", says Google. "Starting from March 1, 2024, customers will be redirected to your Business Profile when they visit these websites. In the past you’ve used a Google feature to make a simple website from the information on your Business Profile."

Google notified users well in advance of this sunset saying, "This is a reminder that this feature is going away soon and will no longer be supported, meaning the site you created with this tool will be removed. On your profile you can showcase similar information about your business, and also add social media links so customers can learn more. Your website will redirect customers until June 10, 2024, after which it will show as unavailable."

Migrate to Google Sites as Your Google Business Site Alternative

You can update your Business Profile to link to a different website. Google recommended a variety of substitutes like Wix, Squarespace and Google Sites. The easiest solution is to copy and paste your content into a Google Site. Convert your site with this simple method. The user interface is the most familiar and you'll even benefit from increased flexibility on the platform.

Why move to Google Sites from another website provider?

Like Google Business, Google Sites is completely free and there is no cost for hosting. Maintenance is pure and simple; you can probably manage just fine by yourself, keeping things in-house. If you need a head start designing on Google Sites, we've got some wonderful templates available. It was a common complaint that profile sites were generic and boring design-wise. Google Sites provides much more freedom to establish a true brand.
