Explanation of Settings and Instructions
Navigate to Change Settings for Viewer Tools
Viewer tools setting changes are autosaved and applied the next time you publish your site.
Click on the top right settings icon.
Select Viewer Tools from the Settings Options
Google Sites Bottom Left Site Info Icon
This is the mandatory icon displayed on all Google Sites and it displays some interesting information including the Report Abuse capability. The site info icon in the lower left of your published site shows page specific details. Site viewers may click or hover over the icon to reveal content.
You can choose to show the last time a page was updated. This is universal across the entire site.
You can Show a Contact Form. This is only available for Google Workspace users of Google Sites. The simple contact form has two fields for Subject and Description. This can be used for reporting incorrect information on an intranet for example. An email is sent to the site owner which includes the site and page name locations.
Anchor Links
Anchor links appear when site viewers hover over headings on the page. It allows viewers to link to speicific sections on the page.
Choose to show or not show anchor links. These appear as small link icons to the right of headings and when clicked auto-copy the URL to the users clipboard.
FAQ
How does the last updated feature work?
The info shows the date or time of the latest update to the page you view, not the site in general.
I don't see the option to add a contact form to view tools, where is it?
Only Workspace users have this option. It is one of the few differences between free Google account Sites and Workspace licensed domain Sites.
Can you remove the bottom left information icon with report abuse from Google Sites?
No. However, this is more discrete than the Report Abuse link of classic sites, since it is now hidden in this site info.
If you are signed in as a Google Workspace admin or super admin, you get the option to review site details:
The site owner’s email address
The date the site was last published
An option to “Request edit access”
